A specialist in the history of sculpture and women's role in the fine arts, Caterina Pierre is a graduate teaching fellow at the College of Staten Island. She has been a guest speaker at Barnard College, Pennsylvania State University, The University of Texas at Arlington, the University of Indiana at Bloomington, SUNY Binghamton, The Swiss Institute for Art Research in Zürich, the Dahesh Museum of Art in New York and the Denver Art Museum. Her article, "Marcello's Heroic Sculpture," was published in the Spring/Summer 2001 issue of Woman's Art Journal. She is also the managing editor of PART. Currently she is writing her dissertation for the CUNY Graduate School and University Center, entitled "Genius Has No Sex: The Sculpture of Adèle d'Affry, the Duchess Castiglione-Colonna, a.k.a. Marcello (1836-1879)."
